What is color and how do we perceive it?
This Four Pees Café is the first episode of a new series of Cafés where color is the main theme. As usual the Four Pees Café’s are meant to be introductions to certain applications or areas of knowledge, so we’re starting from scratch and building up to the current state of color management and how it works.
This first Café on color takes us back to the basics. Four Pees' color guru Michiel Van den Saffele explains three fundamental parts to viewing color: the light source, the object and the human observer. It is important to understand the complexities that come with this to comprehend the difficulties we see in standardizing color and creating color consistency in production workflows.
